Becoming your own Observer

man behind broken glass

One of the reasons that we don’t know where we are going, or what our life plan is, is that we are trying too hard to use the mind to work out what we need to do - to work out the effort we need to apply to get to that understanding. And that’s the wrong route. Neither understanding nor effort are the way forward because the mind can’t help you and can’t do it for you. You seek knowing but knowing does not come from the mind. It comes from the heart and the soul.

You have to accept that ‘trying hard’ isn’t the way. You have to detach from reliance on the mind and start to trust the heart and soul to know what’s best for us by becoming attuned to the feelings that your heart and soul make you aware of. It’s more about peeling back the layers you have adopted since birth to find the real you underneath. It’s like unfolding a parcel to find what really lies within.

It is in detaching from the mind’s perspective of experience and in letting go of the emotions culled from daily experience and accept that you – your heart and soul – are in control of your perspective, not the mind.

In response to a question like ‘why on Earth do I keep doing that?’ - you answer with a self-righteous: ‘Well, I do it because I’ve always done it!’ And that’s the problem. What you did at the age of 5,10, 15 even 20 is no longer sufficient when you are 30, 40 or 50. It's no longer useful, nor viable. You have to move with the times and with your times, otherwise there is no growth, no new learning if you still do things as you’ve always done them.

You become aware that the life and experience that you are receiving are because of what you are constantly thinking and feeling. What you think and feel dictate the frequency at which you resonate, what vibes you give out and therefore what you attract back. If you are full of wants and dislikes then that is what you attract back to yourself. If you begin to notice the same old patterns in your experience, it is because you are attracting them.

Become your own observer and be aware of what you are thinking and feeling. Only you can change your thinking and as you do so, be more and more in touch with your heart and soul because it is they that bring peace, stillness and love, it is they that bring inspiration and hope, it is they that spark the imagination, and it is they that can bring fulfilment when the mind only brings unnecessary worries and grief.

As your self-awareness develops and more of yourself becomes known, practise changing the bits of you that you don’t like and recognise that when you criticise others you are also tearing yourself to shreds, when you blame others the fault may well lay with your own victimhood, when you are steeped in negativity you still letting your mind control you, instead of immersing yourself in your heart and soul. You need perhaps to unfold from the dominance of your mind, which protects you but which can take possession of you with worries, fears, blame and guilt.

Your soul was there before the body and will be so after the body passes. Make your soul your best friend therefore by sharing your thoughts and listen to what you feel as a result. Make an intention of your own transformation, have patience with yourself and you are on your own road to fulfillment – becoming one with yourself.

As you begin to be the observer of your negative thinking and feeling, consult the heart and the soul. It just takes quiet and stillness and you may well be surprised how change is not so hard after all. When your intention is steadfast and starts to materialise, the journey forms a pathway upon which consciousness and awareness become your co-travellers.
